Windows is a piece for 4 musicians with portable speakers and resonators. To compose this piece I recorded myself playing a variety of string instruments through guitar effects pedals. I then layered these tracks and gave them to performers and had them play them back through bluetooth speakers. I also provided the ensemble with a collection of resonant objects found in thrift stores. The ensemble and I spent a few weeks workshopping a performance practise of interactions between speakers and resonant objects which resulted in the performance below.
The piece was premiered in the ANU School of Music’s Big Band Room on May 28th 2015 by the ANU New Music Ensemble (Hayden Fritzlaff, Brenan Keller-Tuberg, Gen Kinotisha and Lewis Rosenberg)
The pre-recorded electronic parts of this piece are available on request
